Niners
Nine points a hole, three players, nowhere to hide.
Players
3 players (strictly)
Best for
The threesome that got left a man short and still wants a game.
The game
Niners (a.k.a. Nines) is the three-player answer to "how do we bet with an odd number?" Every hole puts nine points up for grabs, split by finish: best score takes 5, middle takes 3, worst takes 1. Over 18 holes that's 162 points in play, and because even your worst hole still banks a point, nobody runs away and nobody checks out.
How to play
- 1Exactly three players, each playing their own ball.
- 2Every hole is worth nine points total.
- 3No ties: best score on the hole gets 5, middle gets 3, worst gets 1.
- 4Two tie for best: they split the top at 4-4, the third gets 1.
- 5Two tie for worst: best gets 5, the tied pair split 2-2.
- 6All three tie: 3-3-3.
- 7Highest point total after 18 wins.

Variations
- Net Niners — rank players by net score so handicaps even out the threesome.
- Greenies — closest on the par-3s banks a bonus point, carrying over when a hole is halved.
In the app
ITL Links handles the per-hole math and every tie split automatically — even "two tied for worst, one lone leader" — so a threesome gets a clean running total without anyone doing arithmetic on the cart.
